Adoption Process
Our adoption process is designed to ensure the best match for both you and your new pet. The shelter is open to the public and does not require appointments, so you’ll just need to stop by during open hours (click here to see shelter hours).
Requirements
You must be at least 18 years old to adopt a pet. A photo ID, such as a driver's license or passport, is required.
We ask that everyone in the household come to meet the pet to ensure they are a good fit.
We require completion of a simple adoption application to help advise us and prepare you for your new pet. If you are adopting a dog and have other dog(s) already, you must bring them to meet the dog you would like to adopt. If you are adopting a dog and have a cat(s), we are able to cat-test the dog prior to adoption.
Payment is required on the adoption day (see below for adoption fees).
All cats and dogs adopted from the shelter will be neutered or spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped before going home as your new pet. If the animal is spayed or neutered at the time of adoption, it can leave the same day. If the animal is not yet spayed or neutered, you can pick up your new pet the day after surgery.
Animals in Foster Care
Animals listed as "fostered" on our website are generally not at the shelter. To meet these animals, please contact the shelter to set up a time.
